Its really hot out there this week! Anyone on the East Coast I'm sure will agree that we're getting hit hard now that Summer has arrived. One of my favorite ways to beat the heat is to go to museums, the AC is blasting and you get the opportunity to become inspired or learn something new.
With that idea in mind, yesterday me and my friend spent some time at the MET to see the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit. For those of you who aren't familiar with Charles James, he was a fashion designer, referred to as "America's First Couturier." He was a master at cutting and constructing highly structured pieces. He's also known for inventing the figure eight skirt and the puffer jacket, but he's most famous for his sculpted ball gowns.
The MET gave this modern girl of today a glance into his world and an up close view that one can only hope to see at an exhibit like this.
See below for my journey through two floors of the exhibit. One floor being the The Costume Institute's Anna Wintour Costume Center, which only recently reopened on May 8, 2014.
With James' quotes all around the exhibit it almost gave the feeling he was walking you through it, giving you his first hand impression of every piece.
Anyone in the area or want to visit you can find more information here. The exhibit will be up until August 10, 2014.
