I had the opportunity to visit Chicago for the first time a couple weeks ago and I can't say enough great things about this amazing city! Over the course of a weekend I covered nearly everything on my Chicago bucket list from seeing Cloud Gate to gorging on deep dish pizza and I want to share it all with you.
What to Eat:
Deep Dish Pizza: A staple in Chicago and I suggest going to Giordano's. I was completely unprepared for how delicious and how filling one slice can be!
*Tip: Stay away from appetizers, my mother and I made that error, this delicious pie takes 45min so we ordered some calamari to hold us over not realizing the beast this pizza is, so save your appetite you'll need it and a to-go box.
Garrett's Popcorn: Cheddar and Caramel the perfect combination!
Things to Do:
Willis Tower (the tallest tower in the western hemisphere): I stood out on the amazing glass ledge. The views are amazing and stepping out on the ledge is a real thrill.
*Tip: Purchase a fast pass, you'll thank me later.
Buckingham Fountain: A gorgeous site that should definitely be experienced.
Crown Fountain: I love the faces and its a great place to take a quick rest between site seeing.
Cloud Gate: I call it a bean but its a must-see when coming to Chicago. I was lucky enough to go on a beautiful day. (see pic above)
The Art Institute of Chicago: Just look at the art below, I believe its reason enough :)
Places To Stay:
1. Fairfield Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile: It was in a great central location and the staff was really helpful.
2. The Godfrey Hotel: Its a beautiful place to stay with eccentric decor. Its a little farther out and not too close to a lot as the Fairfield.
I made sure to leave with the perfect quote! I loved the city and hope to get back soon.
